About Austin’s Flooring Department

Austin’s Flooring Department is operated by Buckfast Carpets, part of One Eighty Flooring Group, the independent family business owned by Steve and Joanna Upperton. You’ll find our department inside Austin’s Furniture & Carpet Store on Wolborough Street in Newton Abbot.

A family business with flooring experience

Steve spent several years as Sales Director at Axminster Carpets before taking over Buckfast Carpets in 2018. Joanna brings her background in interiors, with an eye for colour, texture and design. Our wider family business now has four showrooms across Devon and Somerset, sharing experience while keeping a personal approach in each shop.

Advice that starts with your home

Good flooring needs to suit the room, the way you live and what you want to spend. We’ll listen to your ideas, explain the choices clearly and help you compare how different materials look, feel and perform. You’re welcome to ask questions and take your time.

Help from choosing to fitting

Visit our Newton Abbot showroom to explore carpets, rugs, luxury vinyl tile (LVT), vinyl, wood and laminate. Our free, no-obligation home consultations include measuring and samples for you to see in your own light. Before you decide, we’ll provide a written estimate with fitting costs and accessories clearly set out. If you choose to go ahead, we can arrange professional fitting.

Your trust matters to us

Choosing new flooring is an investment in your home, and we’re grateful when you entrust us with it. Whether this is your first visit or you’ve shopped with us for years, thank you for considering our family business.
