Stair Runners

Give your staircase a finish that feels part of your home. A runner can introduce a stripe, pick up a colour from the hallway or keep the scheme calm with a simple neutral. Austin’s Flooring Department can help you plan the carpet, width and finishing details together.

Design around your staircase

Bring photographs of the stairs and landing to our Newton Abbot showroom. We will consider the shape of the staircase, the surrounding timber or paintwork and the look you want to achieve. Many carpets can be made into runners; we will help you choose one suitable for the job.

Explore our wool-rich carpets for ideas, or ask about Roger Oates runners.

Choose the edge and accessories

Whipping uses yarn to finish the carpet edge, while binding adds a border. A similar colour gives a subtle finish; a contrasting one frames the runner. Ask about available linen and leather bindings, along with stair rods to complement your scheme.

Measure, estimate and arrange fitting

Turns and landings need careful planning. We offer a free home measure and will explain the proposed layout and fitting arrangements. Your written estimate will include the runner, edge finishing and the accessories needed.
